YMM Holiday travel information

December 17, 2013

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: December 17, 2013

The holiday travel season promises to be an active one at Fort McMurray International Airport (YMM). We expects an increase in traffic flow from December 18, 2013 through January 9, 2014 for the holiday season.

Although there are 3 parking lots to choose from, parking at YMM is expected to reach full capacity over this peak period. Those parking at YMM should follow signage and parking lot directions. (http://bit.ly/YMMparking) Alternatively, people travelling during this busy holiday period should consider the convenience of door-to-door service by arranging alternative transportation methods to and from the airport, such as a friend, taxi and limousine services, airport shuttle services and economical alternative such as Wood Buffalo Transit.  Passengers are reminded to arrive at the airport with plenty of time. Check-in and drop off baggage for domestic flights during this peak season is 90 minutes before boarding and 2 hours prior to Denver and Puerto Vallarta flights.

Holiday Travel Tips

î  Check weather and flight status before you leave home.

î  Arrive early.

î  Make sure all liquids and gels are in 100 millilitre containers and stored in a clear plastic bag. A single one-litre bag is permitted per passenger.

î  If you’re packing presents, don’t wrap them as security may need to inspect them.

î  Pack patience. To help ease the pain, airport staff members are offering both help and distractions to keep people occupied.
