Over 1,200 guests enjoy Easter festivities at YMM

Fort McMurray, AB – The Fort McMurray International Airport (YMM) hosted a Family Easter Event on Saturday, April 2, 2022, in support of the United Way Fort McMurray and Wood Buffalo.

Excited children eagerly awaited the Easter Bunny as he made his way down the escalator to greet guests in Arrivals. They were then invited to choose an Easter basket from the luggage carousel and head down the bunny trail, through Arrivals, Departures, and finally the Observation Area. Stations along the way had treats, prizes and activities: Sheep Toss, Cookie Decorating, Carrot Game, Bunny Ears, Easter Bingo, and Egg Decorating.

Guests had the chance to have their photo taken with the Easter Bunny by donation, and purchase 50/50 and prize raffle tickets in support of the United Way. “It was a magical day,” says Erica Brewer, Director of Community Impact, United Way. “It meant so much to us here at the United Way to be included in the event. The funds raised will support United Way agencies in the important work they do to serve our community.”

Michael Sieger, Vice President of Commercial & Passenger Experience, Fort McMurray Airport Authority, was pleased the event was well-received. “Anytime we can engage with residents, while giving back to our community is a win! The Easter Event did just that, and the fact we were able to brighten the day of those in attendance made it even better.”

Between the event fundraising and an internal Fort McMurray Airport Authority employee raffle, a total of $3,350 was raised for the United Way. “On behalf of YMM, thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered, donated prizing and Tamela McCrystal from Cross My Heart Events for bringing the event concept to fruition,” says Sieger.
