Families fill the terminal for a fun-filled afternoon of Halloween fun and community spirit

Fort McMurray, AB – The Fort McMurray International Airport (YMM) was brimming with colour, creativity, and countless adorable costumes on Saturday, October 25, as more than 1,200 guests filled the terminal for the sold-out Pumpkins & Planes event in support of United Way Fort McMurray and Wood Buffalo (UW). The family-friendly celebration raised an impressive $3,400 (net) to support local United Way programs across the region.

Families enjoyed an afternoon of games, prizes, and trick-or-treating at each activity station and with participating terminal partners. Crowd-pleasing mascots brought extra excitement to the day, joined by YMM’s furry friends from the Pets & Wellness Society (PAWS) and Alberta Health Services, who offered on-site flu shots. A sensory-friendly session early in the day also sold out, providing a calm and welcoming environment for guests who benefit from a quieter experience.

“This event has become a special fall tradition at YMM,” said Denean Robinson, President & CEO of the Fort McMurray Airport Authority. “It’s heartwarming to see families making memories together while giving back to the community we’re proud to serve.”

“On behalf of UW, I extend heartfelt thanks to the entire YMM team and everyone who came together to make this incredible event possible,” said Paula Galenzoski, Executive Director of UW. “We’re deeply grateful for the community’s generosity and continued support.”

Event photos are available on YMM’s Facebook page. For details on upcoming community events at YMM, visit FlyYMM.com or follow @flyymm on social media.
