$4,550 Raised in support of United Way Fort McMurray and Wood Buffalo
Fort McMurray, AB – Fort McMurray International Airport (YMM) was filled with costumes, laughter and community spirit on Saturday, October 31, as families gathered for Pumpkins & Planes, presented by Robby’s Tractor Trailer Services, in support of United Way Fort McMurray and Wood Buffalo.
The annual Halloween celebration transformed all three levels of the airport terminal into a festive playground, complete with games, activities, treats, prizes, costume contests and plenty of opportunities to make lasting family memories.
“Pumpkins & Planes is a wonderful opportunity to bring our community together and share the airport in a way families don’t often get to experience,” said Denean Robinson, President and CEO of the Fort McMurray Airport Authority. “It’s especially meaningful to see our airport partners, local businesses and volunteers come together to create something special for families while supporting an important cause. We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who contributed to making this event possible.”
Through passport sales, donations and the generosity of event supporters, Pumpkins & Planes raised $4,550 for United Way Fort McMurray and Wood Buffalo, helping support local programs and services that make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families throughout the region.
“The need for support is greater than ever,” said Paula Galenzoski, Executive Director of United Way Fort McMurray and Wood Buffalo. “Our local non-profit agencies provide essential services to individuals and families who depend on them. We’re grateful to the Fort McMurray Airport Authority, its partners and everyone who helped turn a day of Halloween fun into meaningful support for those who need it most.”
A dedicated sensory friendly hour provided a quieter, more comfortable experience for families, reflecting YMM’s commitment to creating welcoming and inclusive community events for everyone.
“An airport is more than a place to catch a flight. It’s a place that brings people together,” added Robinson. “Our heartfelt thanks to presenting sponsor Robby’s Tractor Trailer Service, emcee and DJ Mike Jones, our airport businesses, volunteers and community partners for making this event possible. Together, we’ve created special memories for local families while supporting the important work of United Way Fort McMurray and Wood Buffalo.”
