Earls GM bids farewell after six years at YMM

Earls Kitchen + Bar General Manager Brianna Amiot-Smith is making the move to Chilliwack, B.C., after six years of working at the Fort McMurray International Airport.

When asked about her departure, she expressed mixed emotions. Brianna said she is excited about her next chapter but will miss the people she’s made meaningful connections with.

“I am really going to miss the staff and regulars. I love all the customers that come here,” she said. “All of the clientele at an airport restaurant are completely different from what you have at a regular restaurant, and all the people at the airport are so welcoming and friendly.”

Born in Langley, B.C., and raised in Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo, Brianna joined the Earls team after graduating from Composite High School, starting as a server. Through her unwavering commitment and hard work, she quickly rose through the rants to earn a management position.

During her tenure, she became an integral part of the restaurant’s success, overseeing operations, managing staff and ensuring exceptional customer service.

Brianna said her career highlight was being in the action of the 2023 Wood Buffalo Arctic Winter Games.

“Seeing all the planes come in from different countries and meeting all the athletes was truly one of my best experiences working here. It was such a cool thing to be a part of,” she said.

Brianna’s last work day is on March 22. Be sure to pop in and say farewell. With family still living in the region, she shared that she will definitely be back as an airport passenger!
