Gold Star Customer Service Workshops for Fort McMurray Airport

November 27, 2014

Fort McMurray, AB – November 27, 2014 – Fort McMurray Tourism (FMT) and Fort McMurray Airport Authority (FMAA) are excited to announce their new partnership to offer Gold Star Customer Service Frontline Workshops to FMAA employees. Participants in these workshops will learn how to improve their communication skills, how to provide service excellence, how to manage difficult situations, and how to maintain a positive attitude while delivering an amazing customer experience. All core FMAA staff will receive this training by the end of 2014.

The program is generously supported by Alberta Human Services, the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, and Fort McMurray Tourism. This program will also tie into FMT’s Gold Star Program, which recognizes outstanding service in the region throughout the year and culminates in the annual Gold Star Awards Gala every March.

Fort McMurray Tourism and the Fort McMurray Airport Authority are enthusiastic about the benefits of this training partnership for both staff and customers. FMT CEO Frank Creasey says, “We have been asked by the community to roll out a customer service training program. There is a recognized need in our region to provide better customer service for all front line workers in any industry. We are lucky to have such committed community stakeholders such as FMAA to partner with on this program.”

Scott Clements, President and CEO of the Fort McMurray Airport Authority, is pleased to be able to offer this professional development opportunity to staff. Clements comments, “With the opening of our new world-class airport terminal in June 2014, patrons of the Fort McMurray International Airport look for excellent customer service to complete their travel experience. Considering the volume of travellers moving through our new terminal, we are proud of the level of service that our hard-working service staff are already providing. This partnership offers our staff an opportunity to expand upon their existing skills in order to offer top-level customer service.”
