When should guests arrive at YMM?
Passengers are encouraged to arrive at the Fort McMurray International Airport (YMM) no later than 1.5 hours before their flight departure, to allow time to:
- Find a parking space
- Get into the airport with luggage
- Check-in with the airline
- Drop-off checked bags with the airline
- Get through Security
Airlines have strict cut-off times for checked bags. Guests are encouraged to confirm times with their airline directly. Visit the YMM’s airline directory to find your airline’s contact information.
The Fort McMurray International Airport’s main terminal building is open daily from 4 a.m. until 12:00 a.m.
What type of identification is needed to fly?
When travelling within Canada, passengers 18 years of age or older must have government-issued identification (ID) with a photo or two non-photo government-issued identifications, including the person’s name and at least one that includes the date of birth and gender.

How do I contact lost & found?

When travelling with an infant, can I bring baby formula through security?
Baby food, baby drinks and breast milk fit into the exempt category, but they have some restrictions. Guests must declare these items to the screening officer for inspection. Please visit the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) website to see a specific list of what is allowed.
Is the terminal open 24 hours?
The Fort McMurray International Airport’s main terminal building is open daily from 4 a.m. until 12:00 a.m. Restaurants & Shops providers have specific hours of operation. Visit the Restaurants & Shops page for more information. Only YMM terminal staff are permitted inside the building between 12:00 a..m. to 4 a.m.
What are the parking rates & how does it work?
The airport terminal has both short-term and long-term parking lots available. For listings of hourly, daily, weekly and annual rates, visit the Parking page.
Parking tickets do not need to be on display in vehicles but will be used to exit the parking lot.
Payments at the exit tolls accept credit / debit cards only. However, pay stations inside the terminal accept both credit / debit card and cash transactions. Tap is available at both locations.
Are rental cars available at the airport?
YMM has access to a variety of car rental companies at the airport. Find each company on the main level of the terminal. To learn more, visit the Rental Car page.
Is there a taxi provider at the airport?
United Class Cabs is the Fort McMurray International Airport’s licensed taxi provider. Service vehicles are available outside of the main entrance. For service, contact 780-743-1234.
Where am I permitted to smoke at YMM?
The smoking area on Level 1 is across from the main door beside the car rental parking lot. On Level 2, it is at the far end of the Departures entrance.
Are there lockers / storage spaces available?
Lockers/storage space is not available at the Fort McMurray International Airport. Travellers must keep their belongings with them at all times. Any unattended luggage will be considered suspicious and prompt the Fort McMurray International Airport Security and RCMP to inspect.
Can I exchange currency at the airport?
No, The YMM terminal does not carry an exchange currency vendor.
Does the terminal have wireless internet?
The Fort McMurray International Airport provides free public wifi to its guests within the terminal.
Does YMM have small aircraft parking available?
Yes, to book parking for a small aircraft, please phone the Airport Authority Administrative Office at (780) 793-8979 on weekdays between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
